The Board of Directors

Organisation and mission

The organisation – including the public spending which it involves – proposed by Esprit Calvet was accepted by Imperial Decree, signed by Napoleon 1st, and the Foundation’s statutes were codified by the Council of State in 1823.
 

The management of the Foundation is assured by the Board of Directors. Presided over by the Municipality of Avignon, this Board comprises five representatives from the municipal authorities and three private executors, who may be neither civil servants nor politicians and who are replaced by co-optation.
 

The executors, while participating in the management of the Foundation, are responsible for guaranteeing donors and testators the application of Esprit Calvet’s wishes and supervising that these wishes are carried out. They must ensure that the City of Avignon pays its costs, in particular for the maintenance of all the Foundation’s buildings.
