Musée Calvet, a moving entity
By Estelle Arielle Bouchet,
Journalist
Fondation Calvet's purpose consists in increasing its admirable collections of its seven finest museums of Avignon and Cavaillon. Fondation's mission is to maintain and exhibit its extraordinary heritage in order to a larger public enjoyment.
**Musée Calvet, a moving entity
As the concept of museum has moved in a mobile entity, always replaced, re-conceived and enriched, fully engaged in a constant thought procass in perfect harmony with the spirit of Renaissance, same thirst of knowledge, same mobility, same open-minded behaviour and same influence , nowdays'curator fully follows the necessity not to restrict himself to a mere role of well keeping masterpieces but also to be a modern actor interpreting Art and Beauty. As the sculptor shapes his clay to create a beautiful work, the curator debates if necessary, the former order to propose a clever system of artistic itineraries opened to a larger public. In a tremendously suffering world full of wars and planetary conflicts, Beauty could appear as a solution to counterbalance mediocrity of poor and dirty things.
Mr. Sylvain Boyer, Musée Calvet's Curator and Manager, supervized several projects in this heart of Avignon's cultural life. Today, we wish to focus on the three new rooms dedicated to Ecole d'Avignon from XVI to XVIII century. An excellent opportunity to discover distinguished painters and artists as Simon de Châlons, Nicolas an Pierre Mignard, Reynaud Levieux, Pierre Parrocel... The details of these new rooms will be nextly published on Musée Calvet's website.
Ecole d'Avignon begins at Petit Palais with Avignon's masterpieces from XIV to XVI century preceding Musée Calvet'sworks. Between these two eminent museums the visitor can follow a chronological itinerary through Ecole d'Avignon to feel better the artistic perfumes of the pontifical city. With these new room's opening, an extraordinary patrimony will be visible for everyone's joy.
